The newest addition to the industry standard FlexRig® fleet is uniquely enhanced for mobility and agility in Middle East terrain, without compromising unconventional pad drilling that advanced drilling programs require.

Unlike most conventional rigs, the Flex3 Walking Rig is a side saddle configuration to reduce flat time during common rig activities: drilling, pad to pad rig moves, and well to well rig walks, thoughtfully designed with environmental stewardship and safety in mind.

- Walking capability of 500 ft (152.4 m) in a straight line, or multiple rows within a 200 x 50 ft (60.96 x 15.24 m) box

- Achieve 100 ft (30.48 m) per hour in walking speed without having to move the backyard

THE POWER OF EFFICIENCY: ELIMINATING TEDIOUS AND TIME-CONSUMING RIG MOVE TASKS

- Excessive rig move loads: rig down and rig up is made easier with the condensed box-on-box substructure

- Disconnecting hard lines during rig moves: keep existing connections through the use of flexible flowlines

- Breaking electrical connections during walks: the patented H&P BoomBox allows the rig to stay energized continuously

- Crane usage to move the rig’s backyard skids: reduce dropped object exposure while transporting engines, mud pumps, and mud tanks

- Removing the block and top drive: integration enables this equipment to be raised and lowered hydraulically on the mast

DRILLSCAN® SOFTWARE IDENTIFIES DRILLING DYSFUNCTION CAUSES IN COMPLEX, MULTILATERAL ERD WELL

An operator in the North Sea faced a lower completion lock-up 800m above total depth (TD), followed by a stuck pipe event in an ERD multi-lateral well. In an initial effort to push the completion down to TD, all slack off weight and torque margin were used. Since no improvement was observed, the decision was made to pull-out. However, the string remained stuck and despite the rig efforts to free it, the lower completion had to be cut and left in hole. H&P’s DrillScan® technology team performed an in-depth post-analysis, reviewing all available data to identify what might have caused the lock-up event. The data provided was used to simulate the downhole conditions undergone by the completion with the DrillScan genuine stiff-string model. The results and conclusions pointed to string dysfunctions: suboptimal tripping and lubricating/ backreaming practices (BHA POOH) led to repeatedly exceeding the screens yield strength (lower completion RIH).
